Nordic cultural cooperation in a global world

A cultural forum on the profiling of Nordic art and culture through Nordic cultural cooperation

Berlin, 23-24 November 2009 (Please notice: New dates)

What does the surrounding world consider as typical Nordic? Internationalisation of art and culture life has led to a hardened competition for attention and visibility. At the same time art and culture production in the Nordic countries has increased, and competes for visibility in the international fields. How can the Nordic culture cooperation contribute in profiling art and culture in the Nordic region?

Nordic Culture Point, on behalf of Nordic Council of Ministers, arranges a Nordic cultural forum in order to focus on profiling, branding and international cooperation. The Forum will take place in Berlin in the joint Nordic Embassy building (http://www.nordischebotschaften.org) on 23 – 24 November 2009.

Nordic cultural forum in Berlin is one of several discussions on Nordic cultural cooperation leading to an adjusted action plan for 2010-1012. Two other cultural forums touch on the same issue: “Culture in the Nordic region – action plan for 2010-2012” Torshavn, Faroe Islands on 26-27 August and “Nordic Cultural Forum on Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture in Helsinki, Finland on 11-12 September.

Globalisation is in the forefront of Nordic cooperation during the coming years. Therefore, autumn’s cultural forums will also discuss questions related to culture and globalisation.

A detailed programme and information on the practical arrangements will be published on our website.
